The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) indicted Bristol resident Christopher S. Coffey on two counts of making false reports of sexual assault against Bristol police officers. The investigation began in October 2024 after Coffey alleged he was sexually assaulted by a Bristol officer during a search at Sullivan County Jail in August 2023 and claimed repeated harassment by officers at his home. The TBI investigation found the allegations to be false. Coffey was indicted by the Sullivan County Grand Jury on August 6th and turned himself in on Tuesday, August 19th. He was booked on a $10,000 bond.
