A highly traveled Oakland County road reopened this week, more than a month after flooding washed away part of the pavement.
A portion of Orion Road, at the intersection with Dutton Road on the Rochester Hills-Oakland Township border, had been closed since July 16 , following intense thunderstorms that the Road Commission for Oakland County deemed a "200-year rain event," in which about 5 inches of rain fell within 12 hours.
“We appreciate the public’s patience as we worked to make emergency repairs to this road following the unexpected flooding,” Dennis Kolar, managing director of the Road Commission, said in a statement. “We know this was an inconvenience and we and the utility companies did everything we could to get the work done as quickly as possible.”
