CJ Carr’s moment is here.
After an intense battle throughout the offseason, the redshirt freshman quarterback has earned his chance to take over Notre Dame’s offense as the program’s starting QB.
Carr, a former standout at Saline, was named the starter for the Fighting Irish Tuesday afternoon – the program announced the decision on X .
He beat out sophomore Kenny Minchey for the job.
Carr and the Fighting Irish will open the season at Miami (FL) on Sunday, Aug. 31.
The 6-foot-3 signal caller had a strong showing at Notre Dame’s Blue-Gold game in April as he completed 14-of-19 passes for 170 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
While Carr didn’t throw any passes last season, has received praise throughout the ND program , including from head coach Marcus Freeman.
