BYRON CENTER, Mich. — South Christian High School in Byron Center is delaying the start of its school year after one of its teachers passed away, the school's administration announced.

Mark VanStee was the Dean of Students, economics teacher and coach of Boys' Varsity Golf, his school bio says. School leaders say he passed away Tuesday morning.

The first day of school was scheduled for August 20, but was cancelled. All school activities on Tuesday were postponed. The school says they will send another communication to parents as soon as they have more details.
