GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and dozens of other attorneys general are suing the Trump Administration for its latest immigration enforcement efforts.
Nessel says the Department of Justice is trying to withhold federal funds for crime victim agencies if states don’t fall in line with those immigration efforts.
“I think to make crime victims a political part of this political gamesmanship by the federal government is just deeply disturbing,” said Nessel.
Nessel says the Trump Administration, through the Department of Justice, is trying to block federally funded money to the Victims of Crime Act grants, VOCA, if states fail to assist the Department of Homeland Security’s immigration efforts.
“About $37 million for the next fiscal year that's owed to Michigan
