Masked federal agents mocked a Maryland woman Monday who hit record when a chase ended in a crash on her lawn.
Federal agents chased a landscaping truck about a mile east of Washington, D.C., on Monday, which ultimately led to the vehicle crashing onto a woman's lawn. The resident of the Takoma Park home came outside immediately and started filming the incident.
According to independent journalist Marisa Kabas, who obtained footage from the resident's security cameras, the agents began mocking her during the confrontation.
“Ma’am, do you really want to defend El Salvadoran gang members?” said one agent.
Another mocked, “Thank you for filming for our safety, ma’am. I appreciate it.”
The federal agents then chased two men who got out of the truck and ran, the witness said.
“They did not look like police, just a bunch of dudes in camo with masks," the resident told Kabas. "They jumped out of several unmarked vehicles with dark front windows. Would not provide name or ID, or take off their masks.”
They ultimately provided her with their badge, but continued to refuse to remove their masks so their faces could be seen.
The truck was reportedly still on the street outside the home. ICE moved it off the lawn but said they couldn't tow it.
"Local police said they'd get it towed, but that still hasn't happened," reported Kabas.
Legal analyst Bradley P. Moss remarked with sarcasm, "Gee, it sure would be a shame if someone shared that video with this person's defense attorney. Maybe the man is a gang member. I have no idea. But if this was nothing more than tough talk from the ICE officer without a factual basis, that will not be viewed kindly by the courts."
