GEDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Among the spectacular fireworks, pig races, and butter sculpture, another exciting tradition is returning to the State Fair -- the DMV.

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles' booth is returning this year at the Center of Progress Building, the agency announced on Aug. 19.

While popular culture often maligns trips to the DMV as dull and tedious, the booth at the fair provides convenience amid the fair's festivities. Fairgoers can take eye exams, schedule road tests, and upgrade their permits and licenses.

As a souvenir, you can also buy a Fair-themed license plate.

“There is no better place to be at this time of year than the Great New York State Fair,” DMV Commissioner Mark Schroeder said in a news release.
