A father and his 15-year-old son were among three people arrested in connection with a 2024 fatal shooting in Jackson , authorities announced Tuesday, Aug. 19.

Jackson police said the victim, 29-year-old Marquiez Scott , was shot multiple times on Sept. 15, 2024, in the 3100 block of Booker Street.

Police said Scott attempted to flee the location, with his vehicle coming to a rest in Pearl on U.S. Highway 80 where he died.

Public Information Officer Tommie Brown issued a press release on Tuesday, Aug. 19 identifying the three suspects arrested and charged in the case.

According to police, 18-year-old Mario Brown was arrested on July 30 and charged with murder in connection to the case. Mario received a $1 million bond.
