The former Fox X-Men Universe (which remains alive through Kevin Feige’s sheer bloody will) was and is confoundingly inconsistent. Half the movies are great, the other half are garbage. Characters show up, die, come back totally unrelated, sometimes even die again. It’s a mess, in often the best way. But occasionally, really great characters played by really great actors just didn’t recur because they thought it wasn’t fun.
