Kristie Kuhse, seventh and eighth grade family and consumer science teacher, is working with Pete’s Garden’s Kids Feeding Kids program for the first time this coming school year. She anticipates around 80 students, participating, preparing and packing 200 meals total to give toward families in need in the Kansas City area. Their first meals being sent out is going to be the week of Nov. 2, with pickup in conjunction with the United Way winter coat drive around that time, and the second taking place before spring break.
“I think it’s important to do something, to use our skills, to help other people,” Kuhse explained. “Teaching students to see the world beyond themselves and to help make a difference in their community is an important strategy and outcome that I want my students to learn.
