ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Peach Bowl’s president and CEO will retire at the end of the season, the organization announced Monday.
Gary Stokan became the bowl’s president in 1998. Since then, the Peach Bowl has remained a staple of the New Year’s Six and hosts quarterfinal and semifinal games in the College Football Playoff. Peach Bowl officials said the game has sold out 25 of 27 times under Stokan’s leadership.
He also helped create the Aflac Kickoff Game in 2008 and brought the College Football Hall of Fame to Atlanta in 2014.
The organization said the game has created $1.53 billion in economic impact for Atlanta.
COO and SVP of Marketing David Epps will succeed Stokan as president and CEO, the organization said.
