LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - State officials are set to answer media questions soon in the Governor’s hearing room amid speculation that McCook will be home to the next immigration detention center.

According to the Nebraska Examiner , which reviewed Immigration and Customs Enforcement documents obtained by the Washington Post, the facility is set to have 300 beds and be located near or at the McCook Work Ethic Camp.

Throughout Tuesday, multiple Gray Media stations have been working to independently confirm that the camp is being built.

Reporters have contacted multiple local and state elected officials in McCook who have either not been available to speak or said information needs to come from Governor Jim Pillen.
