MEMPHIS, Tenn. —
West Memphis School District (WMSD) schools will reopen on Wednesday, August 20, after being closed for two days.
Schools were closed after water pressure dropped at several pumping stations across the city Friday, Aug. 15.
All schools, homes and businesses were affected.
A boil water advisory was issued Sunday, Aug. 17 for all West Memphis residents. Water samples were sent to the state for testing to ensure the water was safe for use.
According to a statement released on social media Monday afternoon, Aug. 18, water samples were sent to the state for testing to ensure that the water is safe for consumption — 30 samples were sent for testing, and 28 passed. Water quality was deemed safe for consumption on Tuesday afternoon.
