MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Myrtle Beach restaurant is shutting its doors just more than a year amid a pending appeal in front of the state's liquor license board.

Anchor Bar of Myrtle Beach said Aug. 8 that it wouldn't pursue renewal of its license, but would continue operating as a "family-based restaurant" offering its signature buffalo wings.

But on Monday, the 6401 N. Kings Highway eatery filed a WARN notice through the state Department of Employment and Workforce saying it would shut down at month's end, eliminating 29 jobs.

"With football season starting this month we needed to make some immediate decisions. We put a lot of time and money into this business, and it is not what we envisioned happening," a Facebook post attributed to the restaurant said.
