ITHACA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- An Ithaca man received the maximum sentence for admittedly murdering his wife.
District Attorney Matthew Van Houten announced Tuesday, Aug. 19, in Tompkins County Court that 44-year-old Ahmed Abed was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison in connection with his conviction of murder in the second degree.
The prosecution outlined the details of the crime and asked the court to impose the maximum sentence.
There was no plea offer.
On June 10, Abed admitted to intentionally killing his wife, 43-year-old Alaa Hussein Jeena Abedi on Nov. 11, 2024 in their home. The couple's four children were home at the time.
Three of the children spoke at the sentencing hearing and asked the court to impose the maximum sentence.
