LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Each year, people enter thousands of things into the Kentucky State Fair with the hopes of earning a coveted blue ribbon.
But there was no blue ribbon in the brownie competition this year.
Walking by the case of baked goods, you'll notice only one brownie dish has a ribbon stamp: a red for second place. No first or third place finishers.
So, why?
According to Culinary Superintendent Michael McGaha, it's simple: None met the standards.
"This is the Kentucky State Fair. We have high standards. And it is an open show, so anybody can enter in that department. And if it's a first place winner, you'll get a first place ribbon. If it's a second place you'll get a second place ribbon," McGaha told WLKY.
In all, McGaha said there were 49 brownie entries, but only 37 actuall
