LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A felon who is supposed to be behind bars at Louisville Metro Corrections is now at large, and according to the jail it began with a "miscommunication."

Kejuan Jackson is facing several serious charges, including strangulation and assault.

He was charged for the crimes on June 19, according to court records. LMDC confirms he was released to home incarceration the next day.

According to LMDC Maj. Jason Logsdon, "the LMDC Records Division received a bond decision that they in good faith believed placed Mr. Jackson on HIP."

On Aug. 6, Jackson was indicted on the charges from June and was set to appear in court on Aug. 11.

Police say in between the indictment and court appearance, he removed his GPS monitoring device and ran away.
