CLARKSVILLE, Ind. —
A heartbreaking case of animal abuse ends with a chance for others to make a difference.
Lanie, a dog rescued in Meade County after being chained and left with an embedded collar, is making a remarkable recovery, and she’s now looking for a new home.
“When she first arrived, she was extremely fearful, shy, reactive and skittish,” said professional pet trainer Hunter Twist. “You could hardly pet her. She could hardly get up on the confidence course. She could hardly walk.”
Lisa Ford, a volunteer with the nonprofit Shamrock Pet Foundation , helped guide Lanie’s medical journey.
“There was so much damage to her neck that it took four surgeries and six and a half months to get her healed. We weren’t even sure we were going to be able to save her,” said Ford.
