A report by the State Department of Education is revealing the areas facing teacher shortages.

The report identified the following areas are facing shortages for Pre-K through 12th grade:

Bilingual Education

Special Education

School Library & Media Specialist

Speech and Language Pathologist

School Psychologist

Technology Education

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

It also found history and social studies, mathematics, science, and world languages have teacher shortages for grades 4 through 12.

Fran Rabinowitz, with the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents, said these findings don't come as a surprise, as the state has been struggling with hiring and retaining teach
