JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - Missouri’s new attorney general says she is in it for the long run after the position has been a revolving door for years.

Experienced attorney and lawmaker Catherine Hanaway was appointed by Gov. Mike Kehoe on August 19 to take over the rest of Andrew Bailey’s term as attorney general. Hanaway is scheduled to take over as attorney general on September 8 when Bailey swears into the FBI.

The past three attorneys general have left before their terms were up for positions in Washington, D.C. Bailey is leaving after less than 2 years in the position for a role with the FBI . Before him, both Eric Schmitt and Josh Hawley left after being elected to represent Missouri in the U.S. Senate, where they are serving today.
