DALTON, Mass. (NEWS10) -- Residents in Massachusetts have been raising concerns about the number of reckless electric bicycle (e-bike) riders on the roads this summer. The Dalton Police Department is working with residents to spread awareness about the rules and regulations surrounding e-bikes.

In the last few years, it's not only motor vehicles hitting the roads. E-bikes have surged in popularity throughout the country, even in small towns like Dalton, Mass.

"I saw a few of them last year but there's definitely a lot more now," said Eric Shepherd, a resident of Dalton.

Dalton Police Chief Deanna Strout said she's been getting a number of complaints from residents who say people are riding the bikes recklessly.
