ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany FireWolves are becoming the second National Lacrosse League (NLL) franchise within the Greater Toronto Area. After a vote on August 14 by the NLL Board of Governors, the team will relocate to Oshawa, Ontario, before the 2025-2026 season.
The NLL announced the relocation on August 19, stating the Albany FireWolves will begin a new chapter in the Durham Region along Lake Ontario's coastline. The team plans to keep its name for the upcoming season, and further branding developments will be announced in the coming weeks.
Alongside the Ontario Hockey League's Oshawa Generals, the Tribute Communities Centre will become the FireWolves' new facility. As the NLL's youngest team, NLL Commissioner Brett Frood said the relocation is pivotal for both the franchise
