An electric vehicle that was fully engulfed in a fire on Tuesday afternoon in the 3100 block of North Nevada Avenue has been extinguished, according to a post on X by the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
Firefighters were working on clean-up and ensuring everything is safe, according to the post.
An EV fire poses a "significant hazard" because its battery can experience thermal runaway, which causes the battery to overheat and explode, the post stated. These fires take a "significant amount" of water to extinguish.
