PORTLAND, Ore. — The Oregon Health Authority has lifted the recreational use health advisory Tuesday for Ross Island Lagoon and for the Willamette River south of the lagoon downriver to Wapato Bridge and Kelley Point Park.

OHA issued the advisory on Aug. 12 due to a toxic algae bloom. It had started with the Willamette River south of the Ross Island Lagoon and downriver to Ross Island Bridge, as well as for the lagoon itself, then expanded downriver to Wapato Bridge and Kelley Point Park.

Staff had confirmed that a cyanobacteria bloom was present in the water after DEQ staff took photos of the water while collecting samples for lab testing.
