DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - There are 35 days until the first day of fall, which means that fall apples will soon be in season.
Weather conditions have recently been a challenge for the fruit, but not enough to spoil a fall favorite. We've had five heat waves and below-average rainfall in August as we get closer to September for apple picking.
"We're lucky we've had a few rain showers here and there," said Clarkdale Fruit Farms Owner Ben Clark. "Like I said, we have irrigation for a lot of the orchard for the apples. Trees are healthy, we had a very productive year, put out a lot of fruit."
Some fall favorites include McIntosh apples that come in a couple of weeks and Honey Crisp apples that come in late September.
Clarkdale Fruit Farms is also offering some of their famous peaches. Beca
