Syracuse, N.Y. — A road reconstruction project on South Townsend Street will begin Wednesday, according to Syracuse city officials.

Mayor Ben Walsh announced the work Tuesday, saying it will include curb improvements, followed by milling and paving.

Construction will start on South Townsend Street between Erie Boulevard and Washington Street. Next week, the work will continue from Washington Street to Fayette Street.

The road will be closed daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with traffic detours in place.

City officials advised public transit riders to check Centro.org for possible route changes.
