The Nogales Unified school board voted on Aug. 11 to sign an extension to the agreement that gives them more time to potentially sue the state and the Auditor General over the millions of dollars they lost in the former county treasurer’s embezzlement.

The following day in Rio Rico, the Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District also discussed signing an extension but took no action at that meeting. Superintendent David Verdugo said the agreement was still being drafted and would be brought back up at the next meeting. ×
