SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - It’s back-to-school week, and social media feeds are expected to be flooded with first day of school photos. Before you jump on the trend and take a picture of your child, the Better Business Bureau says to watch out for the hidden dangers in these seemingly innocent posts.
“You don’t know who’s looking at these photos,” said South Dakota BBB Vice President Jessie Schmidt.
Back-to-school photos often can feature a child holding a first day of school sign with basic information like their full name or grade. However, members of the BBB say these simple details can pose a security risk.
