Speaking Tuesday morning after practice, Tulane football coach Jon Sumrall clarified his statement from a local radio show on Monday, when he said he did not know why the Green Wave and LSU did not play each other and added he wanted to face the Tigers.

He explained he simply was responding to a question on 106.7 The Ticket about Tulane’s non-conference schedule rather than bringing it up himself and was not taking a shot at LSU. His beef is with this year’s non-conference schedule. The Wave is the only Group-of-Five school playing three Power-Four opponents and zero FCS opponents, getting Northwestern and Duke at home and Ole Miss and South Alabama on the road.

South Florida, Ohio and Kent State, the other teams with three P4 games, all have an FCS opponent.
