As the Chicago Cubs go for a doubleheader sweep against the Brewers, Jameson Taillon will return from the injured list.
Taillon has been out of action since early July with a calf strain, and has been strong in multiple rehab starts as he aims to return to the team’s rotation.
He will get that chance on Tuesday night against the Brewers, as he takes the ball following a 6-4 Cubs win earlier in the day.
In 17 starts, Taillon has a 4.44 ERA and a 7-6 record, with a 1.11 WHIP. He has 74 strikeouts in 95.1 innings, but has also allowed 22 home runs on the year, something he’ll have to curb as he enters a pennant race for the North Siders.
To make room for Taillon on the active roster, the Cubs sent pitcher Tom Cosgrove back to Triple-A Iowa. He had been recalled prior to Tuesday’s first ga
