A South Lake Tahoe resident tested positive for the plague, El Dorado County health officials said Tuesday.
The last reported case of human plague in El Dorado County was in 2020 .
The resident is under the care of a medical professional and is recovering at home. Health officials believe the person might've been bitten by an infected flea while camping in the South Lake Tahoe area, but they are investigating the situation.
