ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Seven seniors, ranging from 91 to 98 years old, were recently honored with a special celebration at Family of Grace Church. The event was hosted by Queen Bees for Christ, a local community outreach ministry.

Among the honorees was 91-year-old Amy Cheney, a retired nurse who raised nine children. Cheney said she was grateful to be recognized.

“I thank all the people that made it happen because I know it was not because of my goodness but of God’s grace and mercy,” Cheney said.

When asked what advice she would share with younger generations, she pointed to faith and determination.

“I think if you want something bad enough and believe that you can do it, and trust God and have faith that He could help you do it, you can do it,” she said.
