Nine cars crashed on Route 1 in Saugus, Massachusetts, at the start of the afternoon rush on Tuesday, police said.

One of the vehicles was a Massachusetts State Police cruiser, the agency said.

Some people had minor injuries, but no one was seriously hurt, according to police. Traffic was seen backed up on the highway around the crash, which was reported about 4:16 p.m.

Police were still investigating what led to the incident as of Tuesday evening. No charges or citations have been announced.
