An extreme heat watch was released by the National Weather Service on Tuesday at 5:09 p.m. valid from Friday 11 a.m. until Sunday 5 a.m. for East Portland Metro, West Columbia River Gorge I-84 Corridor, Upper Hood River Valley and Central Columbia River Gorge I-84 Corridor.
"Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures of 97 to 100 degrees F possible. Overnight temperatures will range from 65 to 68 degrees F on Friday night, and up to 70 degrees on Saturday night," says the weather service. "There is around a 15-30% chance of high temperatures of 100 degrees or more in eastern Multnomah County (especially around Troutdale), and a 20% chance of temperatures of 100 degrees or more on Saturday in the Upper Hood River Valley. Increased nighttime temperatures will limit overnight recoveries."
