COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Colorado State Patrol says it is working hard to keep drunk drivers off the road.

On Friday, troopers teamed up with law enforcement to set up two DUI checkpoints - one in Gilpin County, west of Denver, and one with the Fountain Police Department in El Paso County.

In Fountain, troopers said they stopped over 500 vehicles, and seven people were arrested for driving under the influence.

In Gilpin County, troopers said 760 people were stopped and six people were arrested.

State Patrol said the next checkpoints are expected to happen near Ridgway and Pagosa Springs in southwest Colorado on Friday and Saturday.
