A Vancouver Island couple stranded in Newfoundland is optimistic about their chances of getting home after the Air Canada strike ended Tuesday morning.
Nancy Blundell and Troy Patterson were vacationing on the East Coast before their flights home were cancelled Saturday after more than 10,000 members of the Air Canada component of the Canadian Union of Public Employees walked off the job Friday.
The couple was stranded in Newfoundland while trying to find a way home.
On Tuesday morning, Air Canada announced it reached a tentative deal with the union representing its flight attendants to end a strike.
“It’s exciting that we know for sure we’re going to be able to get home now,” Blundell said.
“Right now, I was looking at the airport and all the flights are showing as going as of 2 p.m.
