HAYSVILLE, Kan. (KSNW) — Even at the age of 92, Kenneth Simons still can be seen at his Haysville watermelon fields tending to a crop he's spent his entire life cultivating.

Farming watermelons is not easy. They're heavy, and weeds are always looking for a fight.

"I don't know what they're called," Kenneth explained. "I got some names for them, but it's not good."

Plus, you can't forget about the pests.

"Raccoons are out here by the hundreds, and they're eating my watermelons," Kenneth added. "They put a hole in them about that big and a dip in there with their little paw, and they eat them up."

But Kenneth loves the crop; it's kept him coming back to the field for more than 86 years.

"My dad raised watermelons, and my first year in school, six years old, he had me out in the field,
