CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 17-year-old boy was shot and critically injured Tuesday evening on Chicago's Northwest Side, Chicago police said.

The teen was on the sidewalk about 5:10 p.m. in the 1600-block of North Washtenaw Avenue, along the border of Logan Square and Humboldt Park, when he was shot in the shoulder, CPD said.

He was taken to Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in critical condition.

Police did not immediately provide any information about the suspect, or what led up to the shooting.

Area Five detectives are investigating.
