COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus City Schools Board of Education voted to move forward with making $50 million in budget cuts on Tuesday evening.
The board voted unanimously to pass the resolution.
According to the Ohio Education Association, public schools across the state face $2 billion in cuts over the next two years, forcing school boards to make difficult decisions about which programs and services to maintain.
Last week, district leaders said they need to cut $50 million from its annual budget to stabilize its finances.
Treasurer Ryan Cook said expenses are currently exceeding revenue by around $22 million.
