Imagine going to the dentist and also getting a wellness check, at the same time. That's what's happening at Asian Health Services, a community health center in Alameda County. The first of its kind integration is a lifeline for thousands of patients who can't afford care and speak little to no English.

Now, doctors hope a new milestone will bring more help into their community, where a need is so big.

"We really need to treat our patients as a whole person," says Doctor Huong Le. Le considered a pioneer in the community was recruited to become the first dental director for AHS. She opened up its first dental clinic in Oakland, Chinatown to AHS's newest facility in San Leandro.
