Students in West Haven head back to school next week and some of them will have a brand-new building.

Parents got an inside look Tuesday evening at Washington Elementary School after the old building was demolished two years ago.

Kids in West Haven aren’t even back to school yet, but already loving their new playground, from the swings to the slide.

“It looked gorgeous so we’re really excited,” Christina Marino, a parent, said.

But in the eyes of parents, the crown jewel is just a few feet away, the brand-new Washington Elementary School.

“It’s absolutely beautiful. I really love how they invested in the security and just how the town invested in a new school in general,” Marino said.
