Authorities are investigating the death of an 85-year-old South Boston man who was killed Monday in a multi-vehicle crash involving a teenage driver in New Hampshire .

Troopers responded around 2:48 p.m. Monday to reports of the three-vehicle crash on the F.E. Everett Turnpike northbound near the 7E exit, New Hampshire State Police said .

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates a 17-year-old girl from Dunstable, Massachusetts was driving a white Audi north when it rear-ended a Lexus driven by 85-year-old Joseph Casper of South Boston.

The Lexus then crashed into a pickup truck that rolled onto its side, police said.

Casper was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The 17-year-old was taken to a local hospital for the treatment of minor injuries
