The New Mexico Health Department is recruiting 30 people to serve on a Youth-Adult Partnership committee, an initiative intended to elevate youth voices in shaping public health programs.
The initiative will culminate in early 2026 with a Youth Empowerment Action Summit to implement public health practices that reflect the needs and experiences of New Mexico young people.
Tessa Medina-Lucero, adolescent health coordinator for the New Mexico Health Department, called the Youth-Adult Partnership a "paradigm shift."
"By valuing youth and adults as equal contributors, [the partnership] redefines collaboration across generations to create community-driven solutions in health, leadership and civic engagement," Medina-Lucero said in a statement.
