JSO: Man shot in parking lot, ran into apartment building before dying

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Lake Shore Boulevard.

Patrol officers were alerted to a person shot at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday. A man in his 30s or 40s was found suffering from a gunshot wound.

The Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department arrived on scene and pronounced him dead.

JSO says the man was shot in the parking lot but ran into an apartment, where the resident called 911.

Police have not identified the victim or a suspect at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
