NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - With the Kroger on Rosa Parks Boulevard currently closed for renovations, Salemtown residents have no full-service grocery store nearby. But a smaller market aims to help change that by adding more options.
Basket Case, a grocery store and cafe, is opening this fall — and owner Gabby Raven hopes it brings much-needed food access to the neighborhood.
Raven said she’s heard for years how difficult it is to find last-minute grocery items within walking distance.
“I didn’t expect to be opening a grocery store,” she said. “However, I wanted to fill the needs of the neighborhood — and that is definitely one of them.”
Basket Case plans to stock fresh produce, grains, milk, meats, and more, primarily from local vendors.
“The grocery store will be a practical grocer,
