DETROIT -- Tarik Skubal capped a brilliant outing with his 200th strikeout of the season, and Gleyber Torres drew a walk-off walk for the 500th RBI of his career as the Detroit Tigers beat the Houston Astros 1-0 in 10 innings on Tuesday night at Comerica Park.
The Tigers (75-53) have taken the first two from the Astros (69-57) and will go for the sweep on Wednesday.
Skubal threw seven shutout innings in a much-anticipated duel with Detroit native Hunter Brown. The game drew a raucous crowd of 30,770 and carried a playoff-like atmosphere, fitting for two teams who met last October and could see each other again in two months.
Skubal was excellent, but he also got help from his defense.
