A man was killed early Tuesday after he was struck by a New Jersey Transit train in Union County, authorities said.

The victim, who was not identified, was fatally struck about 1:45 a.m. just east of the Cranford Station, according to a transit spokesperson.

The victim was hit by a Raritan Valley Line train that departed Newark Penn Station at 1:28 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Raritan at 2:34 a.m.

There were no injuries to the 25 passengers or crew members, officials said.

The passengers were removed from the train and placed on a bus to reach their destinations, officials said.

New Jersey Transit police are investigating.
