BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Biloxi and the baseball world are mourning the death of Roy Lee Elder, better known in Biloxi as Peter Roy.

The Biloxi native became one of Major League Baseball’s premier scouts and won six World Series rings working for the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lee Elder, a longtime former Giants scout and advisor,” the San Francisco Giants said in a statement. “Lee’s passion for the game, keen eye for talent, and dedication to our organization left a lasting impact on players, staff, and all who had the privilege to know him.
