AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Tuesday marked one week in office for the new superintendent of Richmond County Schools.

The Augusta Commission and Board of Education president formally introduced Dr. Malinda Cobb.

She previously served as the interim superintendent after Kenneth Bradshaw resigned as superintendent.

Augusta Commission members on Tuesday started trying to figure out how to cover a nearly $11 million budget deficit.

Cobb says safety is top priority during her first 90 days in office.

“As we go into this first 90 days of the superintendency, I would say to our community, you can expect to see a continued focus on a safe and secure operation of our school system,” she said at Tuesday’s Augusta Commissio
