SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Saratoga Springs City Council voted unanimously in favor of reducing the speed limit in parts of the city. The proposal calls for the speed limit on city streets to be lowered from 30 mph to 25 mph.

The goal is to improve safety for drivers and pedestrians. Officials suggest the change can be made in phases.

New speed limit signs would be installed after track season starting in the busiest parts of the city.
